The Process of Concrete Polishing in Denver

Step 1: Preparation

Before polishing begins, the concrete surface needs to be prepared. This involves cleaning the surface and repairing any cracks or holes. These are repaired using a fast set Epoxy based mortar to keep the cracks secured to the concrete.

Step 2: Grinding

The first stage of polishing uses coarse diamond segments to remove imperfections and level the surface. Depending on the concrete, we usually start with a 30 grit diamond.

Step 3: Honing

In this stage, finer diamond abrasives are used to refine the surface, making it smoother. In the honing stages we are moving to a resin usually 100 moving up to a 400.

Step 4: Polishing

Finally, the surface is polished using very fine diamond abrasives to achieve the desired level of gloss. Polishing concrete floors really starts at a 800 resin, and can be brought up to a 3000 resin. We finish the Polish with a Guard, and burnish it into the concrete for the final polish process.
